Here is the canned email I send out for all Kiosk deployments with info on player, Touchscreen and install….
Below are the main points of these deployments that need to be addressed. Ultimately, it works best if your team does all of the purchasing of the equipment and we assist with the configuration of the computer.
- The best Touchscreen that we have found in price, weight and function is the ViewSonic 55”. This is their largest touchscreen model and is a good size for our executions. It costs between $2800-$3000. See attached spec sheet and link on Amazon. (https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-CDM5500T-10-Point-Commercial-Internal/dp/B06ZZSNPCN/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=cdm5500T&qid=1605726530&sr=8-5)
- You will also need to order and install a mount to hold the TV to the wall. We have found that the slim mounts should be avoided as they make it hard to access any of the wiring or CPU that will be behind the TV. I have found that Mounting Dream (www.mountingdreamonline.com) is a good place to find reasonably priced full motion mounts that are sturdy. Just make sure it can handle a 55” TV and over 85 lbs.…
- Highly recommend that we encourage each of the displays to be wrapped with a wood enclosure similar to the attached images from Encanterra (horizontal pics for airflow demo) and Seven Summits (vertical mount pic for aesthetic goal). I have found the Displayboards that do not have an enclosure are not as appealing and can actually become an eyesore with cables visible behind the TV etc… Need to make sure there are airflow holes/ slots in the wood preferably on the bottom and top of the boxes to allow hot air to rise (see horizontal mount images attached for example).
- ADA access. I found this good resource for ADA requirements around touchscreens (https://www.adakiosks.com/). Basically, all touch components to run the program need to be between 15” and 48” from the floor. So, center the install of the TV at 48” which will put the bottom of the screen 24 inches from the ground, and you are good.
- The Player/ computer running the program that we have been using is the Minix Nuc (Amazon Link below). Good little box that is around $200-250. Nice thing is that these players can be hardwired in or work on wireless. Hardwired is always preferred. Most of these deployments have had the Operational team (you guys) purchase the player and have it shipped to the BlueStar office so that we can get it set up for you. We then ship it to you to plug into the TV that will be on the wall as the Kiosk. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=minix+neo&crid=3FQGIGFIYB1UM&sprefix=minix%2Caps%2C192&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
